My very own website!!! Yikes!

So…what do I want for Mother’s Day?

Big question.

Let’s DITCH Mother’s Day isn’t going to happen. So, what do I want for Mother’s Day this year?

  • A lie in with my book and cup of tea
  • Pizza
  • A nap
  • Peace and harmony, instructions followed first time or even no prompting required
  • Diamond earrings

Reality of my list:

  • I feel terribly guilty not getting up in the morning even if I am really ill. Chris works so hard all week that I don’t feel he should have to shoulder a load of child care on top of that when he does get time off. He has been thrown into the deep end of family life and I respect the amazing care he takes of us all. So if I get a lie in with my book and cuppa I wouldn’t want to stay in bed past 7am.
  • Pizza: I have a feeling this is achievable 🙂 I have been experimenting with a range of wheat free pizzas (review coming soon!) and have ordered the one I want to come in our grocery shop.
  • I justify my nap with combining it with Zach’s feed but again I don’t want Chris to feel lumbered. Luckily the older kids are more independent and can play on tablets or entertain themselves (very proud of Matthew’s reading 🙂 )
  • No arguments, no nagging, no unreasonable requests, no puppy dog eyes to pull at the hear strings. Sounds easy, right? Hmmmm we’ll see…
  • This is a cheeky little extra I thought I’d add in. It is my ambition to have a pair of diamond earrings. I do not expect Chris/the kids to buy them for me. I’m actually thinking I might like ones with 3 stones to represent the 3 kids (another reason not to have any more 😉 ) and I think Chris would have a panic trying to choose what he thinks I’d like best. I would also feel uncomfortable receiving something expensive (and then the pressure would be on for Father’s Day) so I’ll probably get them for myself when I’ve saved up.
What would your perfect Mother’s Day consist of?

  1. Hi Laura, Mother’s Day has never been something we have celebrated. It is a bit sad I know. My idea of the perfect Mother’s Day would be peace and harmony at home, with things being done before they need to be. A relaxing walk out with the family, the dogs and my camera without the usual circus of getting out of the house. Yep, my off-spring are twenty and seventeen, but it’s still a circus….. Keep calm and blame it on the dogs!

Thank you for linking up with the #MMBC.

  2. I always find Mother’s day a weird one. Firstly are we selfish if we don’t visit our own mothers? Mine is cool and says ‘no, It’s your turn to have your mother’s day’ his is a bit more ‘ you stole my son you harlot, give him back’.
Then there’s the food thing. Shall we go out for an over priced Sunday dinner or cook at home? Then there’s the listening to boyfriend not being able to cook while the kids are banging on with their ‘needs’ then it all gets huffy and puffy and I step in and It’s back to being any other day ☺
This year my friend who is a single parent is coming for dinner so she can be cooked for and a bit spoilt for mother’s day #blogstravaganza

Good for you inviting a single mum. I was a single mum for my first 4 Mother’s Days and would have been bowled over by such thoughtfulness. My own mum hates a fuss as do I, my mum in law is lovely. I hate the idea of spending a fortune on a meal on the actual day when the food is just as nice any other day which can be a spontaneous treat and surprise rather than obligation.

  3. My perfect mothers day would be a nice lie in, then get up and have a full english breakfast mmmm.. bunch of flowers and something handmade from each of my boys.. so daddy has to get his finger out! haha I just want a nice relaxing day #sharingthebloglove

  4. Now my girls are getting a bit older they are taking a lot more interest in mothers day. I know they have something planned with daddy and nanny.
But my perfect mothers day is a day spent with my girls and a trip to go see my own mum.

This sounds like a lovely Mother’s Day to me. My other half remembering the date would be a great present 😉 spending the day outdoors with my sons, mum and mother in law would be my all time favourite thing to do though! #blogstravaganza

  6. My hubby will take the girls down for breakfast giving me a little lie in, not that it lasts long as they always come and find me. I’m not sure what we are going to do this year, but it will definitely be spent all together. Just the way I like it. Thank you for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove

  7. I really hope I’ll get a little lie in – won’t be asleep as my son is loud and my husband won’t be able to keep him quiet downstairs! But a croissant and a cup of coffee in bed would be perfect. And then I think we’re planning on having a walk out somewhere, weather dependent Just something that has us all together (and doesn’t involve a packed restaurant on mother’s day!) Thanks for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove

  8. aww I really hope your wishes come true -the pizza at least! and the no whinging! my son is all about the whinge at the mo and it is so tiresome. all I want for mothers day…to wander round the car boot alone! bliss! #KCACOLS

  9. What a lovely little Mothers Day wish list, I haven’t asked for anything other than a slow morning (we usually all pile into our bed on a Sunday morning so won’t be much different to normal) and to get out for some fresh air. I usually spend the day with my Mum too as I usually forget that Mothers Day is for me too! Thank you for sharing with #bigpinklink x

  11. I hope you had a lovely day and that some of the things on your list happened? We were in hospital with a poorly boy this year 🙁

Thank you for linking up to #KCACOLS and I hope to see you back again on Sunday x

  12. Did you get any of them? I’m particularly hopeful for the diamond earrings for you – well a girl can dream can’t she?! Top of my list was to havemy little boy say mama for the first time and he achieved it in the week before – so nice not to be called Dada for a while!!! #kcacols
