My very own website!!! Yikes!

Proud to be a Scout

I promise to do my best…

Back in June I joined the Scouts on the Executive Committee of the group that Matthew attends for Beavers. He has flourished in his time with the dedicated, fun and inspiring leaders and I wanted to give something back.  I would love to take on a leader role myself at some point in the future but I simply don’t have the time at present 🙁
Friday night the group held an event for parents to try out some of the activities that the kids get to enjoy!

We threw axes and tomahawks. I hit the target a couple of times but they bounced off 🙁 Chris did much better.

Then we headed indoors for archery, air rifles and cross bows! Simply brilliant!

Finally we headed back out to the campfire to cook eggs in oranges. Yes, you read that correctly: scoop out an orange and crack an egg inside then cook in the embers!

My arms are killing me from all the action! I thought that hefting children around for the past 7 years might have developed my muscles a bit but NO!
The whole evening was great fun and I think the parents all loved having the opportunity to try new things.
Just a little reminder that the Scouts is a voluntary organisation and depends on the incredible people that give up their time and energy for the children every week. Please support any events that your local group put on and you may discover some new skills!

  1. I’ve always wondered what went on at the Scouts and it really does sound like just the thing children need these days good for you for getting involved! Thanks for linking up to #coolmumclub xoxo

  2. This sounds so cool!! Wonderful of you to support such a worthwhile organisation, it is so important that we keep voluteering for these things to keep them going as it’s often the only chance some children get to try these things. Thanks for linking up with the #bigpinklink this week.
