Murder on the Marshes in set on the fenland near Cambridge and the plot concerns the murder on a college professor and threats to journalist Tara Thorpe. Can Tara work with the police to catch the killer before he comes for her…?
I really enjoyed this book. It is the first in the series and introduces us to Tara who is a sympathetic character. She has been targeted by a killer but she has already known fear as she was stalked when she was a teenager. She is a journalist but has to tread a difficult path between her career and the police investigation which could save her life.
The other main charater in this book is DI Blake. He is a committed police officer but his home life is in disarray after his estranged wife asks for a reconciliation. Meanwhile his relationship with Tara is starting to go beyond the professional.
I’ll be honest: I guessed the murderer but this did not make the book any less enjoyable and I didn’t know the motive until the big reveal at the end.
