Having been brought up on an entertainment diet of the old classics, I was looking forward to this lost episode of Hancock. I also remember watching the Paul Merton versions when I was a teenager. The comedy was there but I found myself confused by the actors pretending to be the original actors and to be honest I don’t think it quite worked. Kevin McNally was very believable as Hancock himself but Katy Wix’s assumption of Hattie Jacques’ mannerisms seemed awkward and Jon Culshaw appeared overly caricatured as Sid James. Nonetheless it was a fun half hour and if they made future episodes I would probably watch with my eyes closed 🙂
