My very own website!!! Yikes!

This time a year ago…

This time a year ago… we had NO IDEA what was coming our way.
This time a year ago… 125,000 lives in the UK and 2.5 million lives worldwide were being lived, now tragically cut short by covid.

This time a year ago… I was expecting a short sharp lockdown. I expected we’d close 2 weeks before Easter and then be back after the holidays, 4 weeks in total. I never imagined the kids wouldn’t go back to class that school year.
This time a year ago… toilet paper was scarce. Shopping delivery and click and collect slots were non existent.

This time a year ago… hand washing and sanitising were not the norm. Masks in the street were peculiar.

This time last year… I’d never heard of Joe Wicks and I still hated exercise!
This time a year ago… I could go where I wanted without a second thought. Eating out, popping to the shops, visiting the cinema, a day out at a tourist attraction: all could be last minute or long term plans. Just freedom!

This time a year ago… I was able to hug my parents. My children could sit on their laps. We could have a meal together, pop around to each other’s houses, the kids could sleep over.
This time a year ago… I had no idea how many types of virtual meeting were possible, now I’ve done Zoom, Teams, Google Meet!
This time next year… who knows…?!

  1. Oh yes, so true about this time last year. How things have changed! I really hope next year we’re back to some semblance of the old normal. #MischiefAndMemories

  2. Gosh it’s just crazy thinking about how different things were a year ago! And the fact it’s been a whole year of this is just mind-blowing – seems mad looking back to think we all thought it would be a few weeks at the start! #mischiefandmemories

  3. It’s scary when you look back. How innocent and naïve we were. This last year sounds like the plot of a dystopian fiction rather than our actual lives. Though I do believe it will eventually end and we’ll get very close to normal I think it will always be in the back of my mind that literally anything can happen.

  4. This gave me goosebumps. It’s so hard to believe that just over a year ago. now, we were all having a blast, enjoying our amazing freedom and and possibly complaining about the teeniest things that really do not matter at all when you think back to them (me). I’m crossing my fingers for good times ahead. #mischiefandmemories xx

  5. This time a year ago I finished work to go on maternity leave the day schools & nurseries closed – I ended up having just 3 months of my 9 months maternity leave just me & the baby #mischiefandmemories

  6. It is so hard to believe that all this has happened sometimes. This time last year I was totally losing my mind. I have only been that scared before when one of the twins was in ICU. Now here we are living with the ongoing uncertainty and that has become the norm. Fingers crossed for a brighter year to come #MischiefAndMemories
