I was excited to start the latest instalment in the Seaside series by Addison Cole. This plot revolves around the heated relationship between Jana and Hunter. Both of them are hot-headed and determined to get what they want. They have hooked up several times: Hunter wants more than just sex but Jana is afraid of making a commitment.
The couple bring out the best and worst in each other, and they challenge each other. Hunter wants Jana to admit she wants him and she wants him to prove he can be romantic.
Both of the main characters are passionate, strong and creative. Neither of them want to show any weakness. Addison uses the dual narrative structure so that we see both sides of the romance and this allows the reader to fully understand the motivations of the lovers whilst they don’t understand each other.
There are comedic moments in the book (especially when the women go chunky-dunking!) which offer a brief pause from the romantic tension.
The sub-plot of the relationship troubles between Clark and his wife is really interesting to read in light of my own relationships. I think that some men struggle with the change of dynamic in their personal and sexual relationship with their partner. Both often feel tired and unappreciated and the physical changes and hormones can be tough to live with! A strong relationship can overcome this and it is important to make time for each other and to remember to be yourselves.
Once again, I was really rooting for the characters to resolve their issues and get together. Addison is great at making you care about the characters.
