My very own website!!! Yikes!

5 reasons to be excited about back to school

In less than a week, my three children will be back at preschool, infant school and junior school. Part of me feels a little sad that the summer has disappeared so quickly but I definitely don’t want to get caught up in the 18 summers panic that did the rounds at the start of the holidays!

It has been a wonderful, busy and tiring summer. We have been to Wales for over a week. We had a week to recover before we had an excellent time at our wedding. We had a week of peace and quiet before the onslaught of family last week and then the bank holiday away. This week I am frantically trying to get my head sorted for going back to work andschool on Tuesday!

But I am excited about the return to school 🙂 Why?! Let me tell you…
Catching up with friends
We have been quite cut off from friends this summer as we have been away and so have they and it has been tricky to coordinate time that the children can see their school buddies.
I LOVE routine and structure! Waking up with a clear plan of what to do and where to go is just perfect in my eyes!

The children absolutely thrive on learning new things so will relish being back at school, surrounded by facts, tasks and an endless supply of information.
Time apart
This isn’t as mean as it sounds! Whilst I am looking forward to time to myself to focus on work and my blog, it is hugely beneficial to the children to develop confidence, independence and self-reliance.

The approach of autumn
I think the autumn term is the most fun (as well as the longest and most tiring!). The changing seasons allows a fun exploration of the world and obviously there is the countdown to Halloween and then Christmas!
Are you dreading the back to school feeling next week or looking forward to it?

  1. Hey Laura – I still think it’s wonderful that your three babies got to see you get married – it’s adorable! I have to say I’m really looking forward to getting back into a routine again. Plus I’m skint after having treated the kids to a great summer! 😉 Popping over from #stayClassyMama (although I’m not feeling particularly classy at all!) x

  2. The only thing I’m not looking forward to is the early morning starts. I was getting quite comfortable with waking up at a relaxed time every morning 🙂 I think it’s going to be even harder for my boys to wake up too. Just 1 more week to go! #StayClassyMama

  3. I hate the whole school thing. One kid is just about to Graduate so I feel perhaps the end is not as far away as it feels (tho one is still in primary so it’s not as close as I sort of wish it was). Tho a wise friend once said ‘Don’t wish it away’. Most work harder at enjoying the moment….#Stayclassymama

  6. Odd one here as I’ll only have 2 of the 4 of them in school . I certainly agree with you that the time apart does everyone good and we’ve more to chat to one another about as we’ve not been together all day #stayclassymama
